Environmental Assessment Basis
In October 2007 the Company submitted a Project Referral Document to the Environmental Protection Agency of Western Australia (EPA) to commence the environmental assessment process for the Duketon Gold Project.
The submission was based on an initial project development consisting of:
- 2.5-3.5 million tonnes per annum of oxide ores throughput
- mine life of 6 -7 years
- 3 depsosits initially developed - Moolart Well, Erlistoun and Dogbolter
- distrurbance area of 1,560Ha
- 3 GL per annum process water supply
- 10-12 mW power station
On 8 November 2007 the Company receieved notification from the EPA that the project would be assessed under Part V of the Environmental Protection Act (WA).

Duketon Gold Project - Development Leases
Vegetation Clearing Permit
The Company has lodged two Vegetation Clearing Permits (Purpose Permit) with the Department of Industry and Resources (WA) in accordance with the Environmental Protection (Clearing of Native Vegetataion) Regulations 2004.
The applications are to clear a combined 1,430 ha over the:
- Moolart Well, Erlistoun and Dogbolter open-pit mine sites;
- Moolart Well processing plant site, tailings storage facility, stockpile and waste dump sites;
- associated infrastructure sites such as airstrip, accommodation village, borefield and access roads
Regis has completed flora and Level 1 and Level 2 fauna surveys over the proposed mine and infrastructure areas. Environmental management procedures have been developed by the Company for activities identified as potentially having an environmental impact.
